Crystal Palace owner Steve Parish has urged fans to give Oliver Glasner a positive reception when the Austrian returns to Selhurst Park with Nottingham Forest this Sunday. Glasner, who left Palace in June after his contract expired, guided the club to an historic treble of the FA Cup, Europa Conference League and Community Shield in 2024-25.
Parish made his appeal directly, asking supporters to ignore what he called "pantomime narratives". "Give him a fantastic reception," the owner said. The call comes amid heightened animosity after Forest took Palace's Europa League spot for the 2025-26 season due to a UEFA ownership rule breach, a move that also prompted a lawsuit from Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis over a fan banner.
Glasner's legacy
He arrived in February 2024 and his departure at the season's end was followed a week later by his surprise appointment at the City Ground. While a minority of fans remain critical of his final months, the prevailing sentiment among the support appears grateful. One supporter posted on social media that Glasner "deserves a great reception to give our thanks for his and the club's achievements."
Current context
The reunion occurs with both clubs seeking form. Crystal Palace sit 15th in the Premier League with four points from their opening five games. The teams last met in February, playing out a 1-1 draw at the City Ground. Palace's recent results have been mixed, with two wins, one draw and two losses in their last five outings across all competitions. The full squad available for the clash is listed on our squad page.
Kick-off at Selhurst Park is scheduled for Sunday afternoon.
