Crystal Palace Signs Anan Khalaili in £21m Transfer
Crystal Palace are finalising a deal to sign Anan Khalaili from Royale Union Saint-Gilloise in a £21m transfer, surpassing the club's record sale fee. The Israel international completed a medical on Sunday as Palace work to complete an agreement with RUSG.
What happened?
Khalaili, a right-sided wing-back or winger, joined RUSG in the summer of 2024 from Maccabi Haifa. He made 52 appearances in all competitions, providing six goals and six assists. The deal would represent a club record sale for RUSG, surpassing the €22.8m (£19.5m) fee paid by Benfica for Franjo Ivanovic in the summer of 2025.
Why it matters for Crystal Palace
The transfer is a significant boost for Palace, who completed the free agent signing of former Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu last week. The club's second addition of the summer following the arrival of defender Oscar Mingueza, Khalaili's signing is expected to strengthen Palace's squad for the upcoming season.
What comes next?
Crystal Palace are currently 15th in the Premier League, 40 points behind leaders Arsenal. The team has scored 41 goals this season, conceding 51, and has a recent form of 0W-2D-3L (LLDDL, most recent first). The next fixture for Palace is against Ipswich on 12th September 2026.
