Crystal Palace Reignite Interest in Evann Guessand Loan

Crystal Palace have shown renewed interest in signing Aston Villa forward Evann Guessand on loan. The club initially decided against pursuing the 25-year-old earlier this summer, but has now contacted his representatives after a change in management and strategic considerations.

After the departure of manager Oliver Glasner, Crystal Palace are looking to bolster their attacking options by re-signing Guessand, who had spent the second half of last season on loan at Palace. Despite the club's initial decision not to sign him for £28 million, Palace have now made contact with Guessand’s representatives in recent days.

Strategic Shifts and Forward Positions

Aston Villa are currently looking to strengthen their forward positions following the departure of Morgan Rogers and Jadon Sancho, as well as the uncertain future of Leon Bailey. The club is exploring various options, including taking Guessand on loan to help fill these gaps.

Guessand had a productive second half of last season with Crystal Palace, making 14 appearances and scoring twice. However, his return to Villa for pre-season with the intention of convincing Unai Emery that he deserved another chance at breaking into the first team is noteworthy. The forward hopes to be deployed in a more familiar central position after signing from Nice last August.

Despite being available to leave Aston Villa this summer, Guessand has returned to pre-season with renewed determination. His performances during Villa’s tour of Indonesia have been closely watched by Palace scouts and management, who are now considering the possibility of re-signing him on loan for the upcoming season.
