Crystal Palace finished fifth at the Como Cup with a 3-1 win over Saudi side Al-Ula. The Eagles claimed a comfortable victory, with Justin Devenny scoring in the opening minute. Devenny's precise finish at the near post set the tone for the match, and Palace never looked back. They doubled their lead inside the opening 10 minutes, with 20-year-old Rio Cardines picking out Eddie Nketiah for a close-range finish. Abdulmajeed Al-Sulaiheem did manage to find the target for Al Ula in the 16th minute, but centre-back Jaydee Canvot poked home from a corner in the 57th minute to seal the win. Chris Richards and Daichi Kamada were also handed their first pre-season minutes by new boss Pierre Sage, having returned from the World Cup. Next up for Crystal Palace is a behind closed doors friendly against Fulham on Friday, 7 August. The Eagles currently sit 13th in the Premier League, 28 points behind leaders Arsenal, with 35 goals scored and 36 conceded this season.
