Crystal Palace midfielder Daichi Kamada is close to signing a new contract with the club. Kamada's existing deal is due to expire at the end of June but he is expected to remain with Palace.
What happened?
The 29-year-old has spent the past two years at Palace, joining on a free transfer after his contract with Lazio expired. He became the club's first Japanese player.
Why it matters for Crystal Palace
Retaining Kamada would be a major boost for Palace as he is an integral part of their squad and a key player in midfield. They have a largely settled squad and keeping as many of their players together as possible will help significantly under new manager Pierre Sage.

What comes next?
Kamada's experience of winning the Europa League with Eintracht in 2022 will also be helpful in Palace's own European campaign for the upcoming season. He was greatly missed when absent with a hamstring problem over the winter and quickly returned to being an important player upon his return.
As of June 25, 2026, Crystal Palace are preparing for the new season, with their recent form being 2W-1D-2L (WWLLD, most recent first), and they are currently on a 2-game winning run. Their last result was a 1-0 win over Rayo Vallecano on May 27, 2026. The team is currently sidelined with injuries to C. Doucoure, E. Guessand, E. Nketiah, B. Sosa, and C. Richards.
